She wore a thin pair of white-framed sunglᴀsses with red lenses and dodged the rain with an umbrella held by a member of staff.
Rita beamed as she gave onlookers a twirl to showcase the full ensemble before climbing into a car.
The Met Gala will take place on May 6 and the theme is Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.

The Met Gala 2024 will be hosted by Challengers star Zendaya along with music superstar Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth, and Jennifer Lopez.
Her last fitting for the event was on Thursday and she wore a stunning orange head-to-toe Burberry outfit.
Joining her on this trip to New York his Rita’s director husband Taika Waiтιтi with whom she stepped out for lunch on Friday.
Met Gala comes as Rita continues to bask in the success of her new hairline Typebea which she launched in Sydney in April.
Rita followed in Beyoncé’s footsteps to launch the hairline with Aussie hair expert Anna Lahey.
TYPEBEA’s products include your standard shampoo and conditioner, but also ‘overnight boosting peptide’ and ‘hydra-gloss treatment’.
Rita announced the hair line on April 2, but she didn’t confirm its launch date until April 7, revealing it was three years in the making.
